What time does the day start and end?
The typical day starts at 7 am and ends at 9:30pm. It looks like a long day, but there are rest periods and massages you will have booked and will go to in place of some of the classes / sessions.
What are some of the common activities participants do to stay active?
Everyday there are a variety fitness classes including functional, yoga, hiit and dancing classes. Each day starts with a sunrise walk for about 40 minutes. And most of all we stress movement. Keep moving, keep burning!
What is the average weight loss per pay and per week?
The amount of weight each person loses per week varies for a number of factors including starting weight, how much weight you have to lose, and how strictly you stick to the program. Among many more factors.
However as a result of detoxing your body, doing the fitness classes and healthy eating, you should lose a substantial amount of weight and with the Healing Journey classes make lasting positive changes in key areas of your life.
The basic tenets of our philosophy are to put you on the right course for healthy and nutritional eating, detoxing the body with wholesome and clean food and cleanses, and along the way understand how our lifestyle and often our habits contribute to weight gain. As well as how to reset them for long-lasting and healthy weight loss, increased energy and new enthusiasm and zest for life.
How many spa treatments (massage, body scrubs) will be included over the two week period?
Massages or spa treatments are included as part of the program every other day. So for example if you book a ten day Weight Loss Healing Journey, this includes five trips to our spa.
What about a typical menu, what types of food is included with each meal?
We have structured our menus in a way which gives our guests freedom to achieve their detoxification and weight-loss goals in an accelerated or more moderate fashion. For those who wish to go on a full juice fast, the typical menu consists of nutrition-laden juices, which have different cleansing and flushing functions.
For those who wish to eat more solid food, we have a choice of more water-based food like salads mixed with grains, Vegan as well as Vegetarian; and for those who would like to do more of the fitness classes and feel they need more protein there is also a selection of lean chicken and healthy fish available.
Your meal plan depends on your goals and we will then help you make your selections of program-type in your initial consultation.
Can I make special requests based on my preferences?
We try to accommodate our guests as much as we can, from the spread of ingredients that are already offered in the menus. For each meal, there will be a choice of 3 dishes, ranging from those who are undergoing a full juice fast, to those who would like to eat some solid food, to those who need more protein rich foods that we offer.
How tough is the detox part of the program?
We provide natural juices from fruits and vegetables which we have formulated for their specific cleansing and flushing functions.
For participants who have never been on a full juice fast, the common effects are headaches and feeling of some weakness in the first couple of days. Yet this should subside rather quickly as your body switches to burning stored fat and positive hormonal changes take effect.
We will be there to support and guide you along the way. The various body movement activities and classes, outings and night time social activities will keep you busy, occupied and enjoying yourself.
Will I feel hungry?
Yes, some participants will feel hungry. This depends on your normal diet before the retreat.
To alleviate hunger, we can offer a clear broth, juices or healthy snacks like goji berries and/or tree nuts to tie you over till the next meal time.
Are there any supplements included?
Our juices are the primary sources of the natural vitamins and minerals you will need. We do not provide or prescribe pills of any form during the retreat. All your nutrient intake will be from whole foods and blended juices. This natural approach we find to be far more effective for the body to absorb and use nutrients as they come in a natural form with plenty of fiber for proper digestion and elimination.
Is there an exam by a medical doctor included, and blood work?
We are not a medical clinic. We provide wellness vacations in the form of retreats which aim to encourage a healthy lifestyle, with foods that help give your vital elimination organs a chance to rest and recuperate and a sanctuary to help you relax and recharge. We do not include blood work or medical examinations.
Is the program customised based on my goals and abilities?
As referred to above in the section regarding our menus, we have structured our menus to enable our guests to set their own goals and program customisable to best reach them. For example some guests are more interested in the fitness classes and physical activities so may choose their program to include solid foods for their diet and will likely attend all the physical based classes. While other guests may want to complete more of a conventional detox program, juice fasting, or intermittent fasting, for example, and so will have a modified diet and will likely do less physical activities. Others may really want to focus on resetting the mind and making long-lasting habit changes, and so attending all of the Healing Journey workshops and classes will be a must.
What about counselling; most of my issues with food are emotional, so how is this addressed?
Our retreat leader, Katrina Love Senn (author of “Losing Weight is a Healing Journey” and “End Emotional Eating for Good”) will be there with you to guide you and provide you with the support and encouragement you will need to deal with emotional or stress eating. She leads interactive classes on how to deal with emotional eating, negative self-talk, emotional triggers and habit change. Not only will you learn from her experience, you will learn from hearing from other participants on how they deal with similar issues and make changes and plans to ensure you’re ready to deal with these pressures in the future.
More than just weight loss, I don’t want to feel like ‘just a number’. I really want personal attention, and to feel like there is a focus on my goals and who I am as a person.
We respect each person and their specific goals on the journey towards a healthier life. We understand that each person is different, and while the programs are organised around group-based activities, personal attention is given to each person as much as we can to help you achieve your goals. We want to help you to thrive in your life!
Are there resources for support after I return home?
Join our community of participants, friends and retreat leaders on facebook, Instagram and sign up on our newsletters. We regularly publish articles, guidance and share the experiences of others to provide you with continuous encouragement. We will also send you the login details to our members area when it is completred where you find PDF education content that you can use after returning home.
How many others will be participating at the same time?
We run an open retreat, where guests arrive and start their Weight Loss Healing Journey’s on any given time and day. On average there will be 15-25 people on their journey with you at our retreat.
What’s the average age of guests, and from which countries?
We have guests from all over the world yet mostly from Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, United States, Canada, South Africa and New Zealand.
The ages range greatly from twenties all the way up to sixties and even seventies. Yet most of our guests are between 30 and 55 years old.
The balance of male to female is usually around 40% men to 60% women.
Do guests enrol by themselves?
Yes, absolutely. For most of our guests this is a personal healing journey to lose weight. It’s good to be on this journey with like-minded people who share your experiences and have common goals. And great to come back and surprise your friends and family with all the weight you’ve lost!
So yes if you plan to come by yourself, that’s great!, most guests do, and remember we’re here to help you every step of the way. We’ll be meeting you at the airport and ensuring a successful and enjoyable weight loss vacation for you.
Meeting new people and getting out of your comfort zone a little is all part of the healing experience!
What should I bring with me on retreat?
Because the onsite accommodation is a 4-star resort most of what you need is provided for you. All your toiletries and daily items are provided for you, as well as other necessities.
And of course included in your program is all your daily activities, food and drinks.
For the movement and fitness classes please bring light shirts and shorts to take part in the activities in. You will also want to bring sports shoes for fitness classes and walking.
You may want to either bring, or purchase cheaply locally, things like sunscreen lotion, hats, flip-flops etc. It can also sometimes be cool at night in Ubud so a pullover and some slightly warmer clothes should be packed along with summer clothes.
What is the weather like in Bali?
Rain or sunshine the weather in Bali is beautiful. Many prefer when it’s wet because the sun still shines and it’s truly amazing to see Bali, especially Ubud, in the glorious sun after a brief shower.
There are also times of year like July and August where there are extended periods of sun with little rain. I prefer when there’s some rain and sunshine which is probably the best time to come for natural beauty, yet if you prefer to have more full sunshine days then booking around mid year may be the best time to come for you.
The temperature is very constant because it’s a tropical island, so expect an average of around 28° celsius.
Is Bali a safe place?
“It’s important to note that compared to many places in the world Bali is fairly safe. There are some hassles from the avaricious, but most visitors face many more dangers at home. There have been some high-profile cases of visitors being injured or killed on Bali, but in many cases these tragedies have been inflamed by media sensationalism.”

Will I need a visa to visit Bali?
For guests traveling from most countries you will receive a free 30 days entry upon arrival at Bali, Denpasar (DPS) international airport.
There are a total of 169 countries that receive an Indonesia visa free upon arrival.

Which airport do I book my flight to?
We are located in Bali, Indonesia, so the airport to book your flight to is Bali, Denpasar (DPS) international airport.
You can simply write “Bali” in the destination in SkyScanner, Momondo or your favourite flight search or carrier and you will be displayed with flights you can book.

Does the program include free airport transfers?
Yes we provide a free airport pickup and return trip so you don’t have to think about negotiating rates for taxis or in fact pay anything else outside of your program and accommodation price with us.
How much is the deposit to confirm my booking?
The deposit to confirm your program is just 20% of your booking amount and fully refundable up to 14 days before your due date of arrival. We’ve made the booking process easy so you can book and hold your place in advance, and cancel if you need to.
What is the booking change and cancellation policy?
If you cancel more than 14 days before your due date of arrival your deposit and any other payments for your vacation with us will be refunded in full. If you cancel within 14 days of your due date of arrival you will not be entitled to a refund of your deposit amount, however will be entitled to change your arrival date to a more convenient time (within a 12 month period).
How do I make payments?
We accept all major credit and debit cards and take all payments online. You may also pay via bank transfer.
However please be aware that payment must be made and be received in full before you can start your program. So for example in the case of bank transfers this must be made before you arrive because it takes a few days to be deposited.
Please contact us and we will send you the full payment details and methods of payment.
All payments are quoted and invoiced in US Dollars (USD).
When do I need to make the full payment for my program and accommodations?
The full payment should be sent before you arrive so you can enjoy an easy check-in and ensure that you can start the program on your booked date.
If for any reason you have not managed to make payment in full before arrival you may make payment upon check in.
However, please be fully aware, you will not be able to start your weight loss program until payment has been made in full.
